PTA Finance Documents

The PTA's 2025/26 monthly budget reports are available here. If you have any questions at all about how to read the reports or anything they contain, you can email the PTA treasurer (treasurertecapta at gmail.com), ask in the PTA WhatsApp group (email president at tecapta.org to get added), or ask in-person at a monthly PTA meeting!

PTA Budget Process

The PTA passes a new budget every Fall, voting on the budget at the first official PTA meeting of the year, the second Tuesday in September. While the PTA Board does most of the work in putting together the proposed budget before the meeting, it's not official until the overall membership votes on it at the meeting.

Throughout the school year, as additional funding requests are brought to the PTA, the membership must vote on each amendment. (Individually or in a group, depending on what seems appropriate at the meeting.)

​

Generally, it's a good idea to talk through a funding request with the PTA board at least a few weeks before the next PTA meeting, to make sure your request is feasible and fits with the goals of the PTA. You can email the PTA board at teca-pta-board at googlegroups.com.

PTA Budget Background

The TECA PTA was founded on April 11, 2008, after several years of existing as a Parent/Teacher Organization. The TECA PTO was a group of caregivers and staff working to support and build the TECA community, but it was not a legal entity and didn't have its own bank account. When that group transitioned into a PTA, it became an official non-profit with its own bank account and bylaws guided by the state and national PTAs.​

      • The financial report lists our income as $63,342 because we forgot to transfer the funds from our auction website, so it's showing for 2025/26 but is actually 2024/25 income

      • This included a one-time spend of $50,000 toward new Chromebooks at the school, specifically to reduce the PTA's surplus​

Proceso presupuestario de la PTA

La PTA aprueba un nuevo presupuesto cada otoño, votándolo en la primera reunión oficial de la PTA del año, el segundo martes de septiembre. Aunque la junta directiva de la PTA realiza la mayor parte del trabajo de elaboración del presupuesto, este no es oficial hasta que todos los miembros lo votan en la reunión.


A lo largo del año escolar, a medida que se presentan solicitudes de financiación adicionales a la PTA, los miembros deben votar cada enmienda. (De forma individual o en grupo, según lo que se considere apropiado en la reunión).

 

Por lo general, es una buena idea hablar de la solicitud de financiación con la junta de la PTA al menos unas semanas antes de la próxima reunión de la PTA, para asegurarse de que su solicitud es viable y se ajusta a los objetivos de la PTA. Antecedentes del presupuesto de la PTA

La PTA de TECA se fundó el 11 de abril de 2008, tras varios años de existencia como Organización de Padres y Profesores. La PTO de TECA era un grupo de cuidadores y personal que trabajaba para apoyar y construir la comunidad de TECA, pero no era una entidad legal y no tenía su propia cuenta bancaria. Cuando ese grupo pasó a ser una PTA, se convirtió en una organización oficial sin ánimo de lucro con su propia cuenta bancaria y unos estatutos guiados por las PTA estatales y nacionales.
